Paiaka

Toddlers are curious explorers, that want to learn more about the world around them. They are spontaneous and learn through play as they investigate and develop their working theories. Toddlers are learning to communicate with adults and their peers. They want to be independent and are eager to use their developing oral language to explain their wants, needs and emotions.

In our room, we have very low ratios to support the children as they play and transition through the day with predictable routines.

Our big focus in Paiaka is Whanaungatanga – Relationships and Manaakitanga – Respect.
We encourage tuakana/teina relationships promoting buddies in our everyday routines. We encourage and support leadership skills throughout the day.

We have very strong relationships between one another and are genuine in our affection towards tamariki and whānau. Your child will have a ‘Key teacher’ who will spend as much one on one time with them as necessary to help create emotional security. The other kaiako will help to support your child also, but they will have that special someone who knows them best!

We have a range of sensory experiences for tamariki to explore and engage in. We have a safe and trusting environment that allows the children to express themselves through dance, dramatic play and art. Our goal in Paiaka is to ensure that tamariki have a fun memorable learning experience in our room.
